Recently, I had my induction on the sewing machines and I had to familiarise myself with the machine. The model I was given was the 'Husqvarna Viking 116'. As my first attempt on the sewing machine, I completed a few guide line sheets to test my sewing skills. This involved me sewing directly on the lines of a piece of paper, either straight lines, curved lines or more complex patterns. I then experimented on the sewing machine by selecting each setting such as zigzag or curved to complete 8 different styles of stitch on a piece of Calico.

Hello, my name is Naomi Peace. Welcome to my Blog! I am currently studying Art and Design BTEC National Diploma at Barnsley College. I specialize in textiles and surface pattern. I am now in my second year of studying art and design and I'm passionate about techniques explored within the textile industry. When I have completed my course I wish to experience more of textiles by looking for an apprenticeship that will offer me a successful career where I can share my talent and skills in a working environment, I would also love to pursue my dream of working with bridal wear in the fashion industry.
